About Eko
We built Eko to solve a problem we lived
Founded in Chicago in 2023, Eko is the investment infrastructure layer for community banks and credit unions — built by a team that saw the gap firsthand.
Founder Story
Mart Vos, CEO & Founder
Mart spent nearly a decade in banking technology, working on integration projects between core banking systems and financial product vendors across community institutions in the Midwest. He saw the same problem play out at institution after institution: the compliance and engineering overhead for investment products was prohibitive for banks under $3B in assets.
In 2023, Mart founded Eko from Chicago with a clear thesis: community banks deserve the same investment infrastructure as Goldman Sachs. The company is angel-backed and intentionally focused on the community banking segment — not a pivot from a broader B2C fintech play.
The team is based in Chicago's Fulton Market district, five minutes from the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and within the city's dense network of community financial institutions that serve as both customers and early-adopter design partners.
Our Mission
"Community banks and credit unions are the backbone of American small business and working-family finance. They deserve the same investment infrastructure as Goldman Sachs."

Values
How we think about building Eko
Institutional Trust
Community banks are regulated institutions. Everything we build — the documentation, the compliance package, the API contracts — is designed to hold up under regulatory examination. We don't ship features that would embarrass a compliance officer.
Community First
The institutions we serve exist to serve their local communities. We take that mission seriously: fractional shares exist in our product specifically because CRA investment credit matters to our customers. Our roadmap is shaped by what community institutions need, not what's easy to build.
API-Grade Engineering
Infrastructure companies are defined by their reliability and developer experience. We maintain a sandbox environment, publish changelogs for every API update, and treat breaking changes as the highest priority issue in our engineering backlog. Your integration must not break.
